Saramago Returns

The ashes of Jose Saramago, Nobel Prize in literature 1998, rest from today in Lisbon. To celebrate the first anniversary of the death of the ritor esc, Pilar Rio, his partner for the past 24 years, has deposited the URN under an olive tree transplanted from Azinhaga, hometown of the novelist, against which will be headquarters of the Fundacion Jose Saramago, at the emblematic home Bicos, next to the Tagus River. It has been a simple, emotional and symbolic act in which Violante, the daughter of the writer, has placed a copy of the book words for Jose Saramago, edited for the occasion, along with the ashes and the Mayor of the city, Antonio Costa, has covered with land of Lanzarote, where Saramago lived since 1993.
